First 2023 Funding from Co-Fund to the Synallois Cooperative

Co-Fund kicks off this year’s funding cycle with «Synallois», which operates in the field of fair and solidarity trade.

For over a decade, the Synallois cooperative has been working with the Zapatista coffee cooperative «Yachil Xojobal Chulchan», importing raw coffee beans that it processes and sells both through its retail store and wholesale to other SSE ventures or small shops. Following a 38% increase in coffee sales, the venture is planning to further expand its sales network across Greece, with a potential extension abroad. This growth plan significantly increases the venture’s liquidity needs, since in keeping with the principles of fair and solidarity trade, 60% of the value of the annual coffee import is pre-paid approximately six months before arrival, while the remaining 40% is paid upon arrival, together with the special consumption tax and VAT.

Co-Fund is contributing to meeting the required liquidity with a cash facility of €5,000, which is expected to be repaid by the end of summer 2024.
