Co-Fund proceeds with yet another funding round. The Social Cooperative Enterprise “Aegean Sails“, based in Lavrio, Attica, and operating in the entire Aegean region, is the second SSE project to receive financial support from our community as part of our first funding call.
The objectives of the Social Cooperative Enterprise “Aegean Sails” are the maritime transportation of fine products in the Aegean and the promotion and development of alternative maritime tourism, without the use of fossil fuels for both activities. To achieve this, it utilizes professional sailing vessels for the transportation connection between 18 large and small islands, serving routes that are often not covered by regular ships.
The network of collaborating businesses in the project currently consists of 60 agricultural producers, 15 retail stores, and 5 restaurants. The products are displayed on special stands and bear a distinctive label (sticker) “with the Sails and the Wind” to differentiate them from others and highlight their ecological value.
Since September 2021, “Aegean Sails”, in collaboration with “Dock SSE Zone”, have jointly implemented the project “Sailing and Electric Transportation of Ecological Products in the Aegean and the Mediterranean: A Pilot Experiment,” funded by the Green Fund.
Co-Fund provides a cash facilitation of 3,000 euros for the project’s immediate operating expenses in the coming months. The amount is expected to be repaid by the end of Autumn.
