Funding Application

Information on funding applications

Any group of individuals that wants to found a Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) venture without sufficient capital, and any existing SSE venture that plans to expand its operations or needs liquidity, can submit a funding application to Co-Fund at any time.

What must be included in your application

To submit a funding application, complete the relevant form and email us at [email protected] all the documents listed in our Internal Regulations of Operation:

1. Articles of association — or a draft to be filed — showing the cooperative structure of the venture, and any participation of legal entities.

2. CVs of members of the venture or, if it has many members, at least of the Board of Directors. Tell us about your background and your interest in SSE, and declare any participation of your members in other legal entities.

3. Information on participating legal entities in the venture, if any: lines of activity, sources of income, legal status, and shareholding structure.

4. Business sustainability plan covering: the amount you request; the purpose for which you need funding; exactly what will be funded (e.g. purchase of equipment); the registered seat and geographic area of activity; the repayment plan; and an income and expense projection for the whole period until the amount is fully repaid.

5. Financial data (annual results and balance sheets) for the latest years, up to a maximum of three, if the venture is already operating.

6. Subscription to the community: the venture, or at least one member or friend of the venture who agrees to support the application, must be a regular subscriber of Co-Fund no later than the date the application is submitted.

How is your application reviewed

Stage 1 – Eligibility check. The General Assembly checks whether the application is complete against the requirements above.

Stage 2 – Introductory meeting. Every application that passes the eligibility check leads to an introductory video call between Co-Fund and the applicant venture. The discussion looks in depth at the venture’s business plan and at the whole assessment and funding process.

Stage 3 – Assessment.

After the meeting, the General Assembly of Co-Fund assesses the application against the criteria set out in our Internal Regulations.

If the application is approved in principle, it is then scored per each criterion on a 1–5 scale. The result is published, for transparency and to present Co-Fund’s funding policy to the public. During the assessment, Co-Fund may propose improvements to the business plan before it reaches a decision to approve.

Stage 4 – Priority.
If the available capital is not enough for all approved applications, the regular subscribers of our funding community vote online on the order in which the fundings are implemented, until the capital is exhausted. The remaining fundings are implemented as soon as the required amount is raised by the community.

Note: During the stages of reviewing an application, Co-Fund may request any additional document or information about the applicant venture or the people involved in it.

Available capital

The available funding capital is announced every six months, on the basis of each half-year’s financial report. For the second half of 2026: €6,000.
